Dear Residents,
Happy New Year! As the Calumet Memorial Park District enters 2023, there will be many exciting
things happening! We would like to share a few of those with you below.

Sandridge Community Center

When will Sandridge be reopening? Sandridge construction is just about complete, and we are aiming
to open in early February. This project has been a big challenge dealing with supply and delivery issues
throughout 2022. But in our opinion, it will be worth the wait!

About The Project

Sandridge underwent an extensive remodel through 2022. The fire that happened in July 2021 caused
an estimated $4.2 million in damages. Due to the severity of the damages, the district was required to
remodel a good portion of the facility. Moving forward, the hope for the coming year is to remodel the
areas that were not touched by the fire. These areas included the pool, jacuzzi and sauna area.

As mentioned, the district is planning on an early February opening, followed by a grand opening
celebration in March. Once Sandridge is reopened you will see brand new fitness and cardio equipment,
as well as a turf room. In addition, we will have rooms available to rent out for your special occasions –
birthday party, family reunion, or meetings.

Comprehensive Plan

This year the district will be conducting a comprehensive plan. This will allow for our Board of
Commissioners and staff to actively listen and get input from the community on what they would like to
see in our parks. As part of the plan, the district will be conducting a community wide survey and will
be requesting your help for participating in a focus group. Once released, please take the time to help us
to make the park district the best in the South Suburbs!

Open Positions

The district is currently looking for quality individuals to fill positions at Sandridge Fitness Center and
other areas in the park. We will be posting more information on all open positions on our Facebook and
website soon.

In addition, if you have a special skill or suggestion on programs that you would like to teach or that
you feel we should offer, please call and let us know.

More Updates

In addition, in the coming months our website will be getting a new look. The website will help us
update and inform the community on everything within the CMPD.

We also ask that you take a few minutes to follow the district on Facebook. Facebook is a great way to
have up to date information on programming, events, and all happenings at the district.
